Traditional, virtual, and digital intermediaries in university-industry collaboration: exploring institutional logics and bounded rationality

University-industry collaboration now extends beyond traditional intermediary structures and logics, enabled by more contemporary virtual networks digital formats. This however poses new strategic operational challenges for effective responsive knowledge transfer. The purpose of this paper is to compare models transfer intermediaries in university-industry with emerging, (network-based) exploring their (thus institutional logics) services (their agency). We synthesise literature form a comprehensive analytical framework assess the structure agency twenty international from around world. Further running cluster analysis using multiple correspondence method following its results we propose unique combination logic bounded rationality lenses, which allowed us identify four types intermediaries: rigid, rigid-unbounded, agent-bounded agile. Our contributes existing focused on forms intermediaries, identifying positing logics emerging collaboration.
